Overview

THE ROLE: 

 

The Application Development Senior Manager directs a team, focusing on ensuring on-time and accurate of team goals. This role coordinates with other multi-functional teams to ensure delivery.
The Senior Manager collaborates defining priorities and supervising the system development process, tracking the progress of the activities but also participates in the analysis, design and support of system solutions.
Works closely with the Product and Quality Assurance team members to define and communicate status and results of planned work.


The Senior Manager will lead large teams that collaborate proactively to provide system solutions and support the enterprise applications and other integrated systems. The Senior Manger is responsible for providing good technical solutions for integrated systems, maintaining direct accountability for quality and uptime of sophisticated application running on different platforms

 

HOW YOU WOULD CONTRIBUTE: 

 

  • Leads a larger (10+) team or multiple teams in Application Development and ensures delivery for multiple segments of work
  • Ensures team delivers high quality, accurate, viable, and reliable products
  • Coaches, guides, and provides mentorship to team
  • Works closely with other multi-functional teams to enable team productivity
  • Coordinates and supervises creation of collaboration
  • Increases risks and resolves issues to enable team delivery
  • Responsible for leading a large team or multiple teams working in the analysis, design, implementation and support activities required to build a result change based on a system requirement, ensuring the product meets the expected levels of quality and performance
  • Coaching and mentoring managers to ensure the team’s solutions align with good practices in coding and have unit testing coverage good enough
  • Responsible for leading the design and architecture of technology solutions the team provides, serving as a technical solution architect on sophisticated project implementation
  • Leads the efforts to increase the quality and robustness of the software products by promoting the implementation of software architecture best practices, innovative industry standards, and enterprise design patterns within the team
  • Provides analysis and guide on execution of high risk and sophisticated programming tasks where specialized technical skills and deep understanding of the software solution and hardware infrastructure are required.
  • Ensures managers and teams follow defined process of software development methodology, version control and testing, and migration standards
  • Encourages managers to demonstrate functionality and design solution by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code
  • Ensures subordinate managers meet service level agreements for production support response and resolution
  • Provides experienced technical guidance and mentoring to others in areas of expertise
  • Supports upper management and other IT teams in decision making, and provide timely and illuminating status report

Lead up to 10 direct reports
 

Qualifications

SKILLS AND BACKGROUND REQUIRED TO BE SUCCESSFUL: 

 

  • Experience building and managing teams which deliver reliable products that scale
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and verbal/written communication (with both technical and non-technical audiences)
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks
  • Ability to lead technical discussions on a team
  • Ability to work in an agile environment
  • Experience in application development and integration
  • Ability to deliver results and handle performance of teams
  • Ability to develop and empower others
  • Knowledge and understanding of web server technology

  • Ability to architect and support localized international or global application implementations
  • Ability to effectively handle different initiatives evaluating priorities and system impact

  • Ability to achieve results working independently with limited guidance
  • Understanding of infrastructure to support highly scalable microservices, including networking, cloud infrastructure, content delivery networks

Excellent technical skills:

 

  • Familiarity with front-end framework and backend development frameworks
  •  Confirmed understanding of Web applications, Web APIs, Web services and microservices development
  •  Software design patterns, OOP and software architecture.
  • Relational database, document databases, ORM concepts
  • Experience with organisational change tools and processes, including source code control, versioning, branching, defect tracking and release management

 

Experience:


•   9+ years’ experience in application development or related field 
•   7+ years’ experience leading through the design, development, and release cycle
•   5+ years’ experience in working through design and architecture of complex application
•   4+ years’ experience leading direct reports


Education:

 

•   Bachelor's in Computer Science or equivalent

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

 

•   4 years of experience with sophisticated, multi-national application implementations
•   Experience with Cloud based applications
•   Experience in project management
•   Experience with international or multi-level marketing business
•   Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
