Overview

THE ROLE:

 

We are looking for a motivated Lead Senior Accountant in a fast-paced environment. This role is a critical member of the North America Accounting team who handle month-end closing and other reporting requirements, maintain appropriate internal controls, look for opportunities for process improvement and support audit and projects in the NAM region.  This position requires strong analytical and problem solving skills, solid MS Excel skills and effective communication skills to deliver quality work with contending deadlines. The Lead Senior Accountant will be able to see the big picture while also being able to solve root causes to a detailed level.  

 

 

HOW YOU WOULD CONTRIBUTE: 

 

  1. Complete complex journal entries, account reconciliations and analytical schedules to ensure accuracy and integrity of accounting information 
  2. Resolve outstanding accounting issues and reconciling items and be able to research reconciling items from GBS/transactional work
  3. Produce, analyze and evaluate Accounting data, analytics and reports, effectively communicate/coordinate with other teams where needed 
  4. Understand US Accounting rules and requirement and interpret accounting impacts correctly, discuss with Financial Reporting team where needed. 
  5. Implement proper accounting methods, controls, policies and procedures to ensure compliance, suggest possible process improvement.  
  6. Document/update business process and maintain SOX documentation, perform self-testing to ensure compliance
  7. Coordinate with auditors for audit requests 
  8. Participate projects and support other departments’ needs and requests where needed
  9. Perform or assist Accounting Director manage projects 
  10. Prepare supporting schedules and/or footnotes for SEC reporting
  11. Prepare ad hoc schedules/analysis as required, including management reporting, governmental reporting (i.e. census reporting).
  12. Proactively gain an understanding of the full accounting cycle for existing and new business process with an interest in the overall business impact and to identify potential process improvements and do root cause analysis for issues as applicable
  13. Ascertain work and processes are in compliance with laws, regulations and organization’s policies
  14. Coordinate with various departments such as AP, AR, Payroll, Treasury, Royalty, Tax, IS, etc for organizations policies
  15. Handle and provide assistance on special projects

North America is the largest region in Herbalife. The NAM Accounting team managers financial reports of the North America region within Herbalife (i.e. US, Canada and Puerto Rico) and other related reporting requirements, including maintaining and recording transactions accurately, maintaining adequate internal controls, performing analysis to support management in the decision-making process, etc..  Additionally, the NAM Accounting team provides extensive support to various projects and initiatives by different departments in NAM to ensure accuracy of financial information. The NAM Accounting team works closely within the team and with other teams to ensure good quality of results on time. 

 

Qualifications

SKILLS AND BACKGROUND REQUIRED TO BE SUCCESSFUL: 

 

  1. Knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, SOX regulation and internal control framework 
  2. Strong trouble shooting, problem solving and analytical skills 
  3. Communicate effectively and function well in a team-oriented environment
  4. Attention to Details, strong time management skills and ability to prioritize
  5. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including intermediate to advanced level in Excel to perform pivot tables, VLOOKUP and high-level functions and formulas
  6. Familiar with large Enterprise Resource Planning and large accounting software (i.e., Oracle, PeopleSoft, SAP, OneStream)
  7. Minimum 4 years accounting work experience in a corporate and/or public accounting setting

Education

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or Finance                       
  • CPA license or equivalent required.
