Overview

POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT:

The Sr. Manager, Production Maintenance supervises production maintenance operations activities across multiple shifts, including shift supervisors, planner-scheduler, maintenance and changeover technicians, parts room staff, and dispatchers to ensure maximum operating efficiency and compliance with all safety and environmental requirements. Additionally, this position reports to the Director and will be engaged in developing performance improvement strategies and plans with timelines, equipment, training, and cost control measures designed to deliver plant operational goals. The incumbent will have a solid understanding of financial administration in areas of capital expenditures and budget management, preventative maintenance programs, safety, and quality programs as it relates to equipment and production efficiency to achieve departmental and operational goals. This position is also responsible for ensuring the coordination, and notification of all functional groups (facilities, IS, HR, manufacturing, planning, procurement, finance, R&D and quality) of events and projects prior, during, and after execution of the activities to mitigate any issues that might negatively affect the operations.

DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

•   Supervise production maintenance supervision, equipment maintenance technicians, changeover technicians in a cGMP environment across multiple shifts
•   Responsible for the continuous operations of the maintenance team to ensure employees are working toward a common goal, remaining productive, and avoiding conflict and negative competition
•   Responsible for the department budget; including monitoring, and control of expenditures to ensure a cost-efficient operation
•   Provide support and coverage as needed during other Maintenance leadership staffing outages (Vacations/ Sick/ FMLA periods).
•   Identify and delegate cost reduction, and continual improvement projects to help reduce cost, and improve equipment efficiency and reliability.
•   Responsible for the execution of departmental training plans for all maintenance staff
•   Responsible for oversight of spare parts to support operations, follow up with parts department to verify items are on, or have been ordered
•   Monitor the PM program for production equipment in a multi-shift environment to insure PM completion and effectiveness.
•   Interact with production, engineering, quality, and planning groups daily to assure production schedules are met or exceeded
•   Remain current on all EH&S / OSHA requirements and lead these activities for the facilities team.
•   Create a positive and participative atmosphere for improving safety and quality standards in the facilities.
•   Fiscal responsibility for establishing and handling operating costs to meet or exceed budget guidelines.
•   Create continuous process improvement programs to reduce costs and improve lead times. Establish and maintain metrics to support these programs.
•   Provide training programs to direct reports to assure enhancement of their competencies.
•   Additional duties as assigned
 

Qualifications

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Skills:

 

•   Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
•   Excellent organization and analytical skills
•   Good mentoring skills
•   Knowledge of a nutraceutical or food processing facility's operation
•   Knowledge of machinery, preferably in the nutraceutical, food processing or consumer goods
•   Display and possess exceptional mechanical & electrical proficiency
•   Great teammate able to interact effectively at all levels with sensitivity to cultural diversity.
•   Understand PLC functionality

 


Experience:


•   8+ years as a maintenance supervisor / manager or related technical role
•   8+ years' experience working in a Nutraceutical, Pharmaceutical or Food Manufacturing Plant cGMP environment or another Regulated Environment
•   Knowledge & understanding and application of FDA & cGMP standards
•   Demonstrated ability to successfully lead multi-priorities
•   Consistent track record for making improvements and exceeding budget or forecast numbers
•   Experience managing maintenance, and production operations, budget responsibilities, capital projects, CMMS system experience
•   5 years of demonstrated experience managing engineering, maintenance, and production operations, P&L responsibilities, capital projects, directing workflow for multiple direct reports

 

 

Education:


•   Bachelor's degree in engineering

 

 

 



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Experience:


•   Prior experience effectively managing a large facility in a three-shift production environment

•   Working knowledge of Computer based Maintenance Scheduling and management tools (Oracle, SAP. eMaint.)
•   12 years demonstrated experience in a manufacturing environment
•   Managerial experience in a GMP/FDA production environment
•   Prior experience effectively managing a large facility in a three-shift production environment
•   8-12 years of demonstrated managerial experience supervising direct reports and/or directing workflow

 

Education:

  • Masters degree in related field
