Overview

THE ROLE: 


The Manager, Safety is responsible for all activities related to safety and health and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local requirements (i.e., CalOSHA, OSHA, CDC, LACDPH, etc.) and laws to prevent hazards and injuries. The Manager, Safety will have direct oversight of the New Hire Orientation; Safety Performance & Training; Safety Policies/Procedures/Standards/Outreach; and for mitigating risk and promoting safety programs and services by evaluating, developing, and implementing safety and injury prevention programs that support a culture of safety awareness with employees, visitors, and worldwide events. The scope of this position is general office environments; it excludes manufacturing and distribution.

 

This position must partner with Manufacturing and Distribution EH&S teams to ensure consistency and standard processes. This position will have responsibility for planning, governance, and assuring successful delivery of the safety programs outputs. Responsible for daily management through the lifecycle of each program and will define the controls, processes, procedures, and reporting of the programs; assures compliance with all regulatory requirements; lead and mitigate risks and issues that arise; coordinate the interdependencies between the various programs; coordinate and handle resources and stakeholders; and ensure all deliverables are aligned across the safety program.  Will establish reliable methods of improving safety performance and nourishing a culture where safety is a fundamental value in which every employee assumes accountability for safety. This role provides coordination and technical expertise in all areas of general health and safety compliance to achieve excellence.


HOW YOU WOULD CONTRIBUTE: 


• Leadership and development of safety culture through engagement.
• Prepare and coordinate policies and procedures to establish a culture of health and safety.
• Develop and/or update company safety policies and procedures.
• Facilitate and program management of safety programs.
• Handle the incident reporting and investigation process to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
• Facilitate training for managers, supervisors, and employees on safe work practices.
• Compile data to identify and monitor wellness and disease and/or pandemic management guidelines (e.g., COVID) and procedures to establish and achieve effective long-range goals and objectives.
• Coordinate, facilitate, and deliver ergonomic assessments, training, and equipment.
• Leads employees in the Safety Department.
• Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Safety Department.
• Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
• Develop and implement safety programs/plans/policies/procedures/standards.
• Provide daily management through the lifecycle of each program.
• Responsible for planning, governance, and assuring successful delivery of program outputs.
• Define and document controls, processes, procedures for safety programs.
• Provide program management to safety programs.
• Develop safety performance KPIs and reports.
• Evaluate practices and procedures to assess risk and adherence to the law.
• Ensure all deliverables are aligned across the safety programs.
• Collect and structure available data impacting the program and make decisions based on data.
• Connect with vendors, Herbalife management, and stakeholders.
• Manage company safety training programs, including general office safety, fire prevention, injury and illness prevention, evacuation, personal protective equipment, and safety committees, etc.
• Develop and lead safety committee meetings, including training agendas, minutes, and reports.
• Ensure compliance with the rules and programs of all regulatory agencies, governing environmental issues, health, and safety in the workplace.
• Fulfill requirements for training, inspections, emergency drills, and record keeping.
• Perform annual review of all safety policies, procedures, EAPs, IIPPs, training materials, etc. and update as necessary.
• Ensure employees are properly trained on all vital safety programs.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND BACKGROUND REQUIRED TO BE SUCCESSFUL: 


• Knowledge of Federal Regulations and Company requirements, policies, and procedures.
• Experience leading/managing/developing/supporting a safety program.
• Ability to anticipate needs, forecast conditions, set goals/standards and measure results.
• Demonstrated ability to provide detailed reports and develop safety procedures.
• Good understanding of data analysis and risk assessment.
• Attention to detail to distinguish safety hazards.
• Demonstrated leadership working with all stakeholders.

Experience:


• Three plus years of experience leading a team in office/general safety programs, including ergonomics and hazardous materials management.
• Three years’ experience managing people.
• Experience and knowledge with Federal and CAL OSHA requirements and reporting.
• Knowledge in Microsoft Office applications


EDUCATION:


• Bachelor’s Degree or 5-years Safety experience.
