Overview

 

THE ROLE: 

The Industrial Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist serves as a resource to ensure all environmental, health and safety expectations are met as directed for the multiple U.S. sites designated. This individual provides leadership, coordination, and technical expertise in all areas of environmental, health and safety compliance to achieve excellence. This position will also work with all area locations to ensure safe working conditions and interact with team members and management to continually reinforce safe work practices while encouraging positive safety behavior. 

 

 

HOW YOU WOULD CONTRIBUTE:

  • Monitors Safety, Environmental and Health Programs
  • Reviews, updates and prepares all necessary documents and files for ISO 45001 Certification
  • Monitors, obtains Waste Water samples and ensures compliance with Local Wastewater Permit
  • Monitors, obtains Storm-Water samples and ensures compliance with California Storm-Water Permit
  • Maintains compliance with local, state and federal agencies for EHS
  • Chair monthly Safety Committee Meetings on all required shifts
  • Maintains, LOTO, Haz. Com., Confined Space, Hot Work, SDS and other programs as required
  • Provides Safety overview to incoming third-party contractors
  • Performs other duties as required

 

WHAT’S SPECIAL ABOUT THE TEAM:

 

Individual will have autonomy in making most decisions related to safety with input as needed from EHS Manager and management at the facilities. 

 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Outside contractors / trainers / consultants

Qualifications

 

Skills

  • Ability to schedule and keep up with a fast-paced work environment, while maintaining clear communication and objectives throughout the team.
  • Strong customer results orientated. 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a professional presence.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and carry out responsibilities under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to function as an effective team member.
  • Additional duties as assigned

Experience:

  • 3 years + Bachelors or 4 additional years of relevant professional work experience in safety, environmental, health and hazardous waste in lieu of degree (minimum 7 years of work experience with HS diploma/GED equivalent)
  • 1 – 3 years’ experience working with vendors/contractors

 

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree; may consider candidate with High School Diploma or equivalent plus additional 4 years of relevant work experience (for a total of 7 years in lieu of degree)
  • OSHA 10- and 30-hours training certification
  • OSHA 501 & 511 training 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Four-year college degree or two-year associate degree
  • Professional certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or MESH (Manager Environmental Safety & Health)
