Overview

THE ROLE:

 

The Maintenance Manager leads all aspects of production maintenance activities across 3 shifts and Shift supervisors, planner-scheduler, maintenance, and parts room staff to ensure maximum operating efficiency and ensuring compliance with all Safety and Environmental requirements. Additionally, this position reports to the Director and will be engaged in developing and implementing timelines, parts, and cost control measures, and have a working knowledge of financial administration in areas of capital expenditures and budget management, preventative maintenance and Total Productive Reliability programs, safety and quality programs as it relates to equipment and production efficiency to help achieve departmental goals.

 

HOW YOU WOULD CONTRIBUTE:

 

•    Responsible for the operations of the maintenance team to ensure employees are working toward a common goal, remaining productive, and avoiding conflict and negative competition.
•    Responsible for hiring decisions, performance ratings, written warnings, suspensions, disciplinary actions, and/or resolution of complaints.
•    Responsible for the department budget; including monitoring, and control of expenditures to ensure a cost-efficient operation. 
•    Identify and delegate cost reduction, and continual improvement projects to help reduce cost, and improve equipment efficiency and reliability. 
•    Responsible for the execution of departmental training plans for all maintenance staff 
•    Responsible for oversight of spare parts to support operations, follow up with parts department to verify items are on, or have been ordered.
•    Ensure all work follows required permitting procedures, safety requirements, proper cGMP’s and FDA guidelines. Promote and maintain a safe work environment, by regular daily and monthly safety discussion topic for all shifts.
•    Monitor the PM program for both facilities & production equipment in a multi-shift, multi-site environment to insure PM completion and effectiveness.
•    Makes recommendations to the Director as relates to staffing levels based on workload data. 
•    Accountable for maintenance shift results across multiple shift operation, Establishment of MBO’s in concert with corporate business objectives for team members.
•    Project Management – take on projects and effectively complete them under budget and supports IQ/OQ for equipment installation.

Qualifications

SKILLS AND BACKGROUND REQUIRED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

 

Skills: 
•    Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
•    Excellent organization and analytical skills
•    Good coaching skills
•    Knowledge of a nutraceutical or food processing facility’s operation
•    Knowledge of machinery, preferably in the nutraceutical or food processing industry

 

Experience: 
•    7+ years as a Maintenance Supervisor / Manager. 
•    6+ years’ experience working in a Nutraceutical, Pharmaceutical or Food Manufacturing Plant cGMP environment or another Regulated Environment
•    3+ years’ experience in a maintenance technician role
•    Knowledge / Understanding and Application of FDA standards.
•    Experience managing maintenance, and production operations, budget responsibilities, capital projects. CMMS system experience

 

Education: 
•    Associate in applied science technical degree from accredited institution or equivalent experience. 
•    Additional years of experience in the field or in management will be considered in lieu of associate degree with high school diploma.
•    Military Experience/ Assignments will be considered.

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

•    Prior experience effectively managing a large facility in a three-shift production environment.
•    Working knowledge of Computer based Maintenance Scheduling and management tools (Oracle Maintenance Module)
•    Formal PLC training
•    B.S. Degree in an Engineering discipline
